In this article, we’ve compiled some of our favorite tips on how to stay cool in summer and make your pregnancy more enjoyable.

  1. The most important tip for how to stay cool in the summer is to make sure you’re staying hydrated. In the summer months, drink a minimum of 8 cups of water daily. Fluids, especially water, provide essential nutrition for the baby and remove waste from your body. Your body will also cool off more quickly when you drink enough water and are sufficiently hydrated. Staying hydrated can also help prevent pregnancy-related water retention, making you feel less bloated and constipated.
  2. Everyone’s favorite tip to stay is heading out to the beach or a pool! Just don’t forget a sun hat and sunscreen to avoid a burn. If you have access to a pool, doing aqua yoga, water aerobics, or swimming laps can provide relief from the heat (as well as great exercise!) and helps relieve pressure on your joints. Clothing that is too tight can restrict your breathing and make you feel uncomfortable, and synthetic fabrics such as polyester, nylon, or acrylics can make you sweat even more during hot weather.
